I have dreamed of photographing a winter wedding for as long as I can remember! When Mick and Laurel reached out to me I obviously jumped on the opportunity and anxiously awaited February! In our skype meeting they said they wanted a typical Canadian wedding, however all I could think was that in February in the lower mainland we normally get nothing but rain, rain, rain. A week before their wedding the lower mainland got a dump of snow and it just kept snowing and snowing. Their wedding day arrived (and I shed a tiny tear as I left my 6 week old baby for the first time), and there was a good foot and a half with fresh snow falling. I was so stoked that they were getting their dream wedding and Canadian winter! I’m not sure if their wedding guests felt the same way as most of them had come from Australia and it was currently their summer… I think of few of them actually froze during the portraits which were of course outside.
