Nikki and Blake’s engagement session was my first in-home session and now I am definitely hooked! I generally choose to do sessions outdoor as the light is ample and there are so many elements to incorporate. Being surrounded by lush trees or ocean/lakeside views are a favorite of mine, plus it is the perfect time for couples to kick off their shoes and get a little bit of dirt or sand between their toes. Nikki and Blake suggested we do an in-home session and then go for a walk over to Main street; OF COURSE I was down! I had been itching to do an in-home session and it was one of the cutest sessions I have had the opportunity to capture. I think my favourite part of in-home sessions is that when I am invited into a couple’s home it gives me a chance to really get a sense and a feel of them! I’m pretty sure I was cry-laughing my entire way through because they were both so giggly and playful.
After the two of them finished their bottle of champagne we walked over and hit up the Mural Festival on Main Street. I hadn’t seen any of the murals yet so I was totally stoked to incorporate them into their session to get that urban city vibe. I absolutely cannot wait to capture their wedding this September! It will be one for the books and will be so nice to see so many familiar faces!
